Since 2005 Nash Point Lighthouse has been the only working lighthouse, within the entire British Isles, which has been a licensed premises for holding Weddings and Civil Partnerships. We are aware that there is now a Scottish Lighthouse that holds weddings though we understand that these are held in the old Keeper’s quarters rather than in the tower of the lighthouse. Therefore, we still regard weddings at Nash Point as being totally unique.
To add to that uniqueness we only hold about 20 – 25 weddings per year and so there would be very few other couples who could claim to have had a similar wedding.
Our weddings are small occasions (max. 25 guests) which are as formal or as informal as the couple wish then to be. Our Registrars, from the Vale of Glamorgan, are all brilliant, they love coming to the Lighthouse and though they have to carry out the legal parts of the ceremonies in the manner required, they all have the desire to make the ceremonies as light-hearted, informal and as much fun as possible, we are blessed with their attitudes. (Ironically, as there can be no religious content of any ceremony at the Lighthouse, we cannot be “blessed”!).
We do not have room for a reception within the lighthouse but we are able to provide facilities for the wedding party to have, “Champagne Toasts & Nibbles” while the couple are having their photos taken in the Lantern before they return to their guests.
The guests can also take their time to have their own tour of the Lighthouse before they all gather for their “group photographs” outside with the Tower as the backdrop. It is while they are doing this that we sound our historic (and very loud) Fog Signal, to the amazement of those who are not expecting it. We have a wedding album at the Lighthouse with one picture from every wedding that has taken place there.
For details of availability, cost, arranging a viewing of the venue and its facilities, details of local venues of all sorts for your reception and other “wedding professionals” who can contribute to the enjoyment and fulfilment of your special day, please contact Trinity House on 01255 245034. We are there to make your day, The Best Ever.
N.B. We have a rare thistle, the Tuberous Thistle, growing within the station grounds and the whole station has been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) This is why the grass is only mowed at its margins and also why we are unable to have any marquees erected within the grounds. However, the Heritage Café on the Nash Point Headland, are able to provide and erect Marquees and also provide the catering for a full reception there, contact details within Wedding Info, as above.
