We welcome enquiries from Schools, W.I’s, Probus, U3A, etc or any other group who would like to visit the Lighthouse for an educational, interesting and enjoyable tour. Subject to the operational requirements of Trinity House, these can be arranged during normal School hours or any time during daylight hours to suit the party concerned.
For schools, Trinity House have produced a number of Education Packs, for Key Stages 1 & 2 and also some information for older pupils, which will assist Teachers in the preparation of a visit to the Lighthouse and also provide material for a term, or more, project, see:
These packs are available free of charge to schools on application, subject to availability, they are particularly suitable now that the topic; Sun, Sea & Sand is on the Junior School curriculum..
Would Teachers please be aware of the height restriction of 1.1 metres which is often marginal for the very young Stage 1 children. If any children cannot ascend the tower, due to height or ability restriction reasons, they will be kept entertained and educated at the base of the tower while others ascend the tower.
At the end of every School visit we gather at the Fog Station for a “Blast” of the Fog Horns, this is usually regarded as the highlight of the visit by most children.
If your School or your group would be interested in organising a special visit to the Lighthouse, In the first instance, please contact Trinity House on 01255 245034
You will need to allow a total of 1.5 – 2 hours, depending on numbers, for the tour.
